  • Nominated by U.S. Embassy in Mexico to receive 4-Year Scholarship to North Carolina Wesleyan University.  Matriculated for two years before marriage.
  • First Hispanic Female to earn a Doctorate in Education from The College of William & Mary

Dr. Martha L. Muguira loss her six-year battle with multiple myeloma on August 5, 2012. In recognition of her years of selfless service to the Richmond Community and her commitment to education, the Dr. Martha Lazcano Muguira Fellowship Endowment has been established in her memory at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va.  The Fellowship provides financial assistance to Latina students seeking graduate studies in education with a concentration in leadership.
